The Future’s So Bright

MARTI is trapped in an Off-Off-Broadway theater and is certain that solving the equation for predicting prime numbers is the key to his freedom. That, and to understanding random events. All random events. Unfortunately, solving this equation requires help from his like-minded companions—an agoraphobic theater tech and a secluded mathematician—both of whom are in danger of succumbing to the most random event of all: falling in love.

Michael Mendiola

Michael Mendiola is a playwright, writer and actor. Mike’s first two plays, The Book of Dorothy, based on the real-life events of activist Sister Dorothy Stang, and The Future’s So Bright were semifinalists for the O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference. He penned script revisions for the Off-Off Broadway production of The Ketchup Commercial and is currently working on his plays Account(ability) and Remembering Zach. Other writing includes story development and/or content editing for the literary fiction fantasy novel Velvet Moon Chronicles (@VelvetMoonXIII) and What the Mountains Know (@KnowURMountains).

Mike is a member of the Dramatists Guild, AEA and is on the board of The Project Solution, a nonprofit organization that provides small scale funding for infrastructure projects to people in distressed areas of the world. After spending almost 20 years in NYC, Mike has moved back to Seattle and is eager to discover anew this beautiful city he used to call home.


Scot Charles Anderson

Scot Charles Anderson is a director and actor. Local directing credits include Curtains (Woodland Park Players), Something’s Afoot (Driftwood), Fiddler on the Roof (SMT), Flora the Red Menace (Showtunes), Lend Me a Tenor (Arts West), Oliver (BPA), You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (ReAct), and The Twilight Zone: Live on Stage (Theatre Schmeater). New York: Zombie Temps from Outer Space, The Ketchup Commercial, and Michael Mendiola’s The Book of Dorothy (staged reading).

Scot is a member of AEA and serves on the board for Reboot Theatre Company and believes that art, in all forms, has the power to bring about change, open communication and helps to build a stronger, more loving community for all humans.


Megan Cooper

Megan Cooper is an actor and educator recently relocated to the PNW from Boston where she worked as an actor and teaching artist. Boston theatre credits include Emily in Our Town at Riverside Theatre Works directed by Jason E. Weber, Anne Frank in Anne and Emmett at Roxbury Repertory Theatre directed by Robbie McCauley, and Juliet in the IRNE-nominated production of Romeo and Juliet at Independent Drama Society directed by Sarah Gazdowicz for which Megan was nominated for My Theatre Boston and Broadway World Boston awards. Megan was a company member of Roxbury Repertory Theatre and of Theatre Espresso.


Barry O’Neil

Barry O’Neil has been acting in the Seattle area for seven years, having moved back home after nearly a decade in Los Angeles, CA. In Seattle, he’s worked in radio, corporate videos, commercials, theater, and film. This is the second play he’s appeared in with the Seattle Playwrights Salon, having twice read in Kate Danley’s real-estate farce, “Building Madness.” Barry currently lives on the Eastside in Sammamish with his wife, Lindsay, and their two daughters.


Mark Waldstein

Mark was seen most recently in M.Butterfly at ArtsWest. With Seattle Playwrights Salon last October, he was in The Ass of Privilege by Lauren Fulton. He has also performed with Sound Theatre Company, Book-It, Annex, ReAct, and Theater Schmeater; as well as the 14/48 Festival and Theater Anonymous. Mark teaches theater at Bellevue College, working with people on the autism spectrum.


Teri Lee Thomas

Teri Lee Thomas has played diverse roles that span four decades in Shakespeare, classics, new plays, musicals, TV and indie film including: Village Theatre (Crimes of the Heart, Secret Garden, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance, Miracle Worker, Heidi); Seattle Children’s Theatre (Sherlock Holmes); Seattle Shakespeare (Merry Wives of Windsor); Alice B.
