Seattle Playwrights Salon is run by some very dedicated and passionate people. They are driven by a common belief in the ability of original storytelling to change lives. This group of individuals has created the fictional Team you see here. They are also examples of how creative collaboration brings playwrights, actors/actresses and audience members together. In addition to being creative and caring about theater, they provide the foundation upon which an atmosphere can be developed for new plays to thrive.
(Executive Artistic Director)
As executive artistic director at Seattle Playwrights Salon, Eliana Brooks drives the organization's artistic direction by working hard to promote and support original voices in the world of theater. She collaborates closely with playwrights, directors and other creative professionals to develop and enhance programming; assist with developing individual writer's scripts; and create meaningful opportunities for emerging and experienced writers/artists alike. Her guidance creates a welcoming and supportive environment for both emerging and experienced writers to grow creatively
(Literature Programs Coordinator)
Literary Programs coordinator Mason Everhart supports playwrights by evaluating manuscript submissions for stage reading productions. Additionally, mason assists in pairing writers with potential directors and/or actors to collaborate on these readings. Furthermore, mason develops initiatives designed to build collaborations among writers, directors, actors and others; foster peer review; and promote artistic development. Ultimately, his focus on storytelling helps each new piece receive thoughtful consideration.
(Community Outreach Coordinator)
Naomi Calder establishes long-term connections with area artists, volunteers, and arts patrons. Naomi organizes community events; develops education programs; and provides outreach services to foster a sense of inclusion/exclusion for anyone interested in seeing original theater or experiencing live performance.
(Production Support Coordinator)
Julian Mercer takes care of all logistical needs related to rehearsal preparations, staging of readings, and one-time special events. While focusing on providing an environment in which the creative process may flourish for the participating artists; julian makes sure that every event will run smoothly so that participants can spend their time writing new stories.
(Writer Development Specialist)
Writer development specialist Vivienne Hartwell engages with writers individually as they develop new scripts through workshops, staged readings, and joint developmental sessions. Vivienne encourages experimentation; thoughtful revisions; and creative confidence; while assisting writers in refining their storytelling and structural elements of drama.
(Public Relations & Communications Manager)
Public relations & communications manager Theo Calloway conveys the Seattle Playwrights Salon message to the larger community through engaging digital media; promoting current productions; highlighting the talents of local playwrights; and linking audiences with ways to experience original theater across the year.
Each member of seattle playwrights salons' fictional Team shares a deep-rooted commitment to support creativity; foster collaboration; and celebrate the voices of regional playwrights throughout the Pacific Northwest. As such, collectively they exemplify the welcoming nature; artistic excellence; and community-focused mission of Seattle Playwrights Salon.
